I did a thing…in May, though…

Hi!! It’s been way too long since my last post. What can I say life it crazy busy! Our oldest daughter is now in her senior year of high school. How did that happen? And our baby is a sophomore…again, I’m not old enough for this!

Please let me know if you were unable to understand the video. This was take 2 and I felt like there were some places where my words got squished together. But over all I’m pretty happy with it.

I was able to attend a few open houses for the first time since the accident. AND…our oldest was on the varsity softball team and they made it to state!! Whew…that ws a long stressful last 2 weeks of school. Balancing exams and practices and games, not at our home field.

She wasn’t able to play because of the stupid ACL injury and surgery, but she went to all the practices and games. I know it crushed her not to be able to play, but I am so proud of her commitment to her team. Those girls fought hard!

I did get some pictures of lots of things.

So, much going on in the pictures. I’m getting a little teary. In the first picture is a very special friend. She’s been apart of my recovery since, like Feb 2018. I toook my very first hands free of any cane or bar or harness, with her. I remember laying on the mat table in the gym at Mary Free Bed and trying to hold back tears because this incredibly pactient therapist was asking me to roll on my side I really could not do it. I wanted to do anything else but a simple roll over was breaking me. I mean breaking me…why couldn’t I just roll onto my side? I’m pretty sure she help me do a roll then moved over then moved on to something else.

We’ve tried to get together a lot over the years, but with her kids so much younger than mine it’s been hard. I mean she’s just getting started with the busy stuff as far as kids go. I am so thanful she and her family could make it to the game. I wanted to show off all my progress I’ve made in the last 5ish years since I have last seen her, but alas there wasn’t a good place for me to walk and do squats. 🤣

I did have one moment when my heart exailed with relief. Her young son,5 maybe, ask why I was holding a palm pillow. I said my hand was grumpy. He askked why my hand was grumpy and I said I didn’t know, it just was. Guys, he understood me. I said something that he couldn’t have assumed, like I’m good when asked how are you. HE UNDERSTOOD ME!!!! That is a moment I won’t forget!

Having the two littles, smaller than my high schoolers and up, made me really miss dragging the kids to travel games.

That sunburn though…I am happy to say I have a wonderful tan line from that burn.

June 24, 2016
A is done watching baseball. She’s got the bag. This weekend was fun but she’s done.

Look what I found when I was looking for A’s picture.

The picture of A laying in the sun is great, because it was a nice weekend before it got all stupid hot. The girls won both games that day, then at least one more I wasn’t able to make. Then headed to the state championship game at MSU. We were going to head to Lansing the night before the game, but it got crazy and it was so last minute we were not ble to pull it off. That meant getting up and ready for the day at 6:30 in the morning. So A and I made our best game faces before leaving for the day.

It was crowded at the MSU stadium and officially hot. There was no good shade where a person could hide from the sun and watch the game. They ended up losing the game, by one run in the last inning, but it was such a GOOD game!

Pre Game line up MSU
K is standing in this line up pre game. See the girl with the knee brace next to the coaching staff? That’s her. 🥲🥲 Making me cry.

I did something else…this thing is what I am blaming the delay in writing this post. This I haven’t done this thing since before the accident. It was a thing I tried to do as often as I found reason too do this thing. Check this out…

This, thing I’m sewing, is a gift. Once the intended person gets this gift I will happyly share more. (She recieved the gift. Next post I’ll put of pictures. ) The thinking that goes into any of this…crazy.

I got this brilliant idea to make this gift, but neither Tammy or my in home therapist sew. Even if they would have been it was supper important to do this myself. Have you ever thought of how hard it would be to sew with only one functional hand? No? That’s understandable…but the thing that caused my brain shut down for a few days, cutting out the pieces of my patteren.

Seriously. I cried that night for no reason. It was honestly one of the biggest labors of love. It truly restored a lost piece of my heart. I’ve been sewing all kinds of things I’ve never sewn before. I remember telling my Recreational therapist that I wanted to try, but until a few months ago I was too scared to try.

I was telling her recently I was terrified to try sewing. Deep, deep down fear. One that I was not ready to face, for fear of…failure?

I have since sown lots of things. I will post pictures.

The weather has been rough in Michigan, but I am hoping to enjoy the last few weeks of summer before school starts again. I hope you can get out and spend some time relaxing in the sun.

Grace and peace to you! Hopefully I will get back on and share some more fun things happening in my life this summer.
